Crave – Day #7

Posted By on Apr 4, 2014 | 2 comments

We will gather for worship as the church again this weekend, and I can’t wait!

I love what God does in and among His people as we pray, worship, and dig into His Word.

Keep praying, reading, and focusing on Jesus during this time of “Crave.” We are 1/3 of the way through.

Keep pressing on.

Day 7 [April 4]

John 7

The pinnacle of Chapter 7 is found in v. 37-38.

It is when Jesus, having delayed joining the others at the feast, now waits until the final and climactic day to stand up and yell, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says.” [The Message]

These words take us back to Chapter 4 where Jesus talks to the Samaritan woman about His thirst-quenching living water…eternal life. [John 4:10-14]

It also echoes even further back to the book of Isaiah, which says:

The LORD will guide you always;

He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land

and will strengthen your frame.

You will be like a well-watered garden,

like a spring whose waters never fail. – Isaiah 58:11

God does satisfy! He quenches our greatest thirst and fulfills our deepest longings.

Each of those verses also relate to our time of prayer and self-denial. In this process, we have experienced want, hunger, and even thirst. For some, this is the first time to be really hungry or thirsty physically; but our thirst doesn’t stop with the physical.

Do you thirst and hunger after God?

Take time today to pray and talk with God about your deepest areas of thirst. Ask Jesus, the living water, to refresh your soul and quench your thirst.
